The market for CO₂ globally, and particularly in the US is incredibly volatile, with short supply and growing demand. Because of the regional nature of the current commercial CO₂ production landscape, pricing has a high degree of variability, and availability is unreliable. CleanCycle works with RNG Developers, direct air capture (DAC) technologies, and industrial tailgas streams to create reliable access to high-quality biogenic CO₂ supply for market needs and CCU.
As bolt-on equipment to existing Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) upgrade facilities, tail gas streams or direct air capture (DAC), CleanCycle Carbon processes tail gases that would otherwise be flared or vented to atmosphere and purifies the waste gases to food-grade liquid biogenic CO₂. Leveraging relationships with RNG developers and CCU interest, CleanCycle is now looking to undergo rapid growth to meet the CO₂ demands of customers.
CleanCycle Carbon’s CO₂ plants use a patent pending technology for the purification and liquefaction of carbon dioxide from impurities in tail gas streams – with relatively small footprint and capital compared to other CO₂ capture technologies. We are one of the very few companies with operational equipment in the U.S., and the first small scale CO₂ liquefaction plant in the U.S.
Our Generation 2 design will has an even more compact and containerized footprint, reduced capital costs, and increased efficiency. CleanCycle Carbon plants have lower power consumption compared to others on the market. Most importantly, our operation systems are currently producing beverage-grade liquid CO₂ domestically in the US.
Currently operational and producing food grade liquid CO₂, our proof-of-concept plant in North Carolina is bolted-on to a RNG upgrade facility and produces 8 tons of liquid food grade CO₂ per day. This represents the first CO₂ upgrade system off an RNG PSA upgrading system in the United States, and a first at this small of a production scale. CleanCycle Carbon’s team was responsible for the design, construction, and commissioning of this site. The liquid product CO₂ is being used by the food producer as a cryogenic, decoupling a critical supply chain constraint of CO₂ for our customer.
CleanCycle Carbon is ready to convert your RNG tailgas stream into a commodity. By use of our technology, your project can receive a lower CI score from methane recovery from your RNG upgrading plant.
